Join a 3-Month Cultural Exchange Program While You’re at Waseda
Want to make local friends and experience Japanese culture beyond the classroom?
This 3-month cultural exchange program is a great way to connect with Japanese students in a fun and casual setting during your stay in Japan.
You’ll team up with Japanese students for three themed activities — Create, Move, and Eat — designed to encourage meaningful conversations and shared experiences.
The Japanese students are eager to learn about your culture and introduce you to theirs. Whether you’re fluent in Japanese or just learning the basics, everyone is welcome! Most of them are also curious about life abroad and excited to meet international students like you.
You’ll also be part of a LINE group to stay in touch with your new friends between activities.
Let’s share stories, laugh together, and build friendships that go beyond borders!

Tsumami-Zaiku Craft Workshop
Discover your hidden talent at Tsumami-Zaiku, a traditional Japanese craft used to make beautiful floral ornaments and decorations.
In this workshop, you’ll create small and medium-sized flower motifs that can be worn during the upcoming Bon Odori Festival! A professional instructor will guide you through the process and assemble your finished pieces into a lovely accessory.
☆Be sure to wear your handmade creation at the Bon Odori Festival in July!

Yukata & Bon Odori Dance Lesson
Put on a yukata and join us for a fun and easy Bon Odori dance workshop!
We’ll learn the basic moves together while enjoying the rhythm and energy of this traditional summer dance. Mastering the steps will make the Bon Odori Festival even more exciting!
Free yukata set available!
You’ll receive a free yukata to wear for the lesson and the upcoming Bon Odori Festival.
(If you prefer, you can still bring your own yukata.)

Higashi-Fushimi Bon Odori Festival
Join one of the most popular summer festivals in the area, attracting over 10,000 visitors every year! Enjoy the lively atmosphere, vibrant food stalls, and fun activities with your fellow participants.
This is a perfect chance to share the experience of Japanese food with your international friends — be sure to introduce them to some delicious local dishes!
Wear your yukata and the Tsumami-Zaiku flower motif you made earlier, and let’s dance together at the Bon Odori Festival! It’s the perfect way to celebrate summer and make unforgettable memories
